The Tonic Garden - a sonic survey of soothing sounds

I am currently developing a series of new radio programmes for our new arts channel - 604 - under the umbrella title Bedside Radio.

The programme I'm currently working on is The Tonic Garden - a kind of ambient radio programme made up from sounds suggested by staff at Forth Valley Hospital, Radio Royal volunteers and the public at large. The programme features original music and field recordings created by myself and Ian Middleton. Below is a sneak preview of how it's going to sound - this is still a work in progress however.

Channel 604 will go live in April 2013 so check back for more details nearer the time.

The Importance of Sound

For the purposes of my sound recordings, Michael Moneypenny, Consultant Anaesthetist at Forth Valley Royal Hospital has been kind enough to demonstrate some of the equipment he uses daily in his work. A selection of these sounds were used to make the short radio feature you can hear below - along with a an interview with Michael about the importance of sound in his occupation.
